Generic Esomeprazole is a chief active component of this drug. It belongs to the category of proton pump inhibitors (PPI’s). It is mainly indicated to treat the certain conditions of stomach and esophagus complications. It acts by reducing the amount of acid in our stomach and gives relief from the heat burn, difficulty in swallowing and persistent cough. It also prevents the cancer of esophagus.

It is also prescribed to treat the gastric ulcers caused by the helicobacter pylori or use of NSAID’s (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

Therapeutic uses of Nexium

It is indicated for the problems of stomach and esophagus problems.

Prescribed amount of Nexium

Nexium is indicated for the short term therapy (4 to 8 weeks). The recommended dose of this drug is 20 mg or 40 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. It should be taken at least one hour before the meals. It should be administered as orally and with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the tablet, Swallow the whole tablet.

Precautions of Nexium

  • It is not given to breastfeeding moms because it could harm a new infant.
  • It is inadvisable in case of pregnant ladies.
  • Long term use of this drug may cause the bone fracture in the hip.
  • It is not given to pediatric patients under the age of 12 years.

How to store Nexium?

  • The storage temperature of this drug is 300 C.

What to do in case of missed doses of Nexium?

If you forget to take this drug, take it as soon as you remember. If it is the time near to the next dose, then skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule.

Don’t get the two tablets of this drug at a same time.
