In Remeron, Mirtazapine is an active pharmaceutical ingredient. It belongs to the Tricyclic anti-depressant class, this medicine act as antagonist at α2 receptor and proliferation the level of nor adrenaline and serotonin like neurotransmitter. In short, it helps to get relief from signs of depression, by maintaining the correct level of neurotransmitter in the body.

Why should you take Remeron?

This medicine is indicated in the treatment of depression, along with anxiolytic (that inhibits anxiety), hypnotic (that induce sleep), and antiemetic and appetite stimulant.

Contraindications of Remeron

  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors such as Furazolidine, Isocarboxazid, Phenelzine and Selegeline.
  • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor such as Citalopram, Fluvoxamine and Escitalopram.
  • Antihistamine drug such as Cetirizine and Diphenhydramine.
  • Sedative-hypnotic drug such as Diazepam and Alprazolam.
  • Opioid drug such as Codeine and Morphine.
  • Anti-epileptic drug such as phenytoin.

Storage conditions of Remeron

This medicine should be stored below the 25̊C and protect it from direct light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children or pets.

Dosage

Remeron is available as 7.5mg as orodispersible table, 15mg and 30mg tablet

Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not chew the tablets.

The recommended starting dose of mirtazapine for adults is 15 mg taken once daily in the evening before going to bed.  The maximum recommended dose of mirtazapine is 45 mg regularly.

In case you are taking the orally disintegrating tablet .The orally-disintegrating tablets intended to quickly dissolve on the tongue and can be swallowed with saliva. Ensure that your hands are dry and clean while taking the disintegrating tablet, and then instantly place the tablet on your tongue. Note that tablets must be used. The tablets should not be stored once they are removed from their packaging.

What you do in case of Missed dose of Remeron?

In case of missed dose, take the missed dose as soon as recall. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take next dose at the regular time. Do not take two doses of his drug to catch up.

What you do in case of Overdose of Remeron?

Overdose symptoms include sleepy, dizzy, chaotic, and agitated. Do not take overdose of this medicine because its produce serious unwanted effect.

Side effects

Some serious side effects include suicidal behavior, confusion, seizures, tremors, mania attack, and fainting, irregular heartbeat. Some common side effects include skin rash, itching, inflammation of the face, lips, mouth, throat or other parts of the body, yellowing of the eye, difficulty in breathing.
